Job summary

Knight Frank Cairns is seeking a property accountant to own accounting and financial reporting for a mixed portfolio spanning commercial, retail and industrial assets. You will manage month-end close, budgets, tenant outgoings and property performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial real estate or related environment.
• Confidence interpreting leases and understanding their accounting implications.
• Strong understanding of real estate trust accounting compliance.

Responsibilities

• Managing month end close, including accruals and variance commentary.
• Preparing annual property budgets.
• Preparing annual tenant outgoings estimates and year-end outgoings reconciliations.
• Reviewing tenant recoveries and ensuring costs are allocated correctly.
• Managing debtor arrears.
• Assisting with audits and compliance requirements.
• Providing analysis and commentary on property performance.
• Contributing to improvements across systems, reporting and finance processes.

The role

You'll take ownership of accounting and financial reporting for a mixed property portfolio spanning commercial, retail and industrial assets. From monthly reporting and lease accounting through to budgets, tenant outgoings and property performance, you'll be the go to person for the financial health of the portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing month end close, including accruals and variance commentary
• Preparing annual property budgets
• Preparing annual tenant outgoings estimates and completing year end outgoings reconciliations
• Reviewing tenant recoveries and ensuring costs are appropriately allocated
• Managing debtor arrears
• Assisting with audits and compliance requirements
• Providing analysis and commentary on property performance
• Contributing to improvements across systems, reporting and finance processes

About you

• Experience in commercial real estate, property management, lease administration, property accounting or a related environment
• Confidence interpreting leases and understanding their accounting implications
• A strong understanding of real estate trust accounting compliance
• Experience with Cirrus8 and Vision will be highly regarded
