Job summary

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Project Support Officer to join the LAND 4140 Battle Management System program in Australia. You will support the BMS Integration Project Manager across governance, scheduling and stakeholder engagement.

The role offers exposure to Defence capability delivery and a pathway to leadership within a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates have Defence/government experience, excellent communication and strong analytical skills, plus familiarity with

Qualifications

  • Experience in complex Defence or Government environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and briefs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with quality outcomes.
  • Understanding of PMBoK, PRINCE2, Agile or similar frameworks.
  • Active NV1 Defence Security Clearance is required / preferred.
  • Experience supporting project delivery across schedule, cost, quality and risk.
  • Familiarity with a Project Management Office (PMO) or project delivery team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare presentations, reports, briefs, correspondence and executive submissions.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project.
  • Assist with governance activities and board/committee reporting.
  • Establish business processes to support delivery and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, suppliers and system integrator.
  • Monitor activities and support risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Conduct quality assurance to meet project standards and requirements.
  • Contribute to planning, coordination and execution across the integration workstream.
  • Support work package delivery within timeframes, budgets and quality expectations.
  • Provide leadership and coordination across small multidisciplinary teams when required.

The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Project Support Officer to join the LAND 4140 Battle Management System (BMS) program, one of the Australian Army's highest-priority capability projects.

LAND 4140 is delivering next-generation command and control capabilities that will transform how the Joint Land Force operates. Through the enhancement of situational awareness, targeting capabilities, and decision-making systems, this critical program will enable Defence personnel to make faster, safer, and better-informed decisions in complex operational environments.

As a Project Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the BMS Integration Project Manager and Deputy Project Manager in delivering the integration stream of the program. This role offers broad exposure across project management, governance, stakeholder engagement, reporting, scheduling, and Defence capability delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Support project leadership through the preparation of presentations, reports, briefs, correspondence, and executive submissions.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and tracking activities using MS Project.
  • Assist with project governance activities, including board and committee reporting.
  • Establish and maintain business processes that support effective project delivery and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, suppliers, and the system integrator to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Monitor project activities and support the management of risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities and ensure compliance with project standards and requirements.
  • Contribute to planning, coordination, and execution activities across the integration workstream.
  • Support work package delivery within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Provide leadership and coordination across small multidisciplinary teams when required.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
  • Experience working in complex Defence or Government environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports and briefing materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality outcomes.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and commitment to professional development.
  • Experience supporting project delivery across schedule, cost, quality, and risk considerations.
  • Experience within a CASG, NSSG, GWEO, or other Defence acquisition project environment.
  • Previous experience working within a Project Management Office (PMO) or project/program delivery team.
  • Understanding of project delivery methodologies such as PMBoK, PRINCE2, Agile, or similar frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the One Defence Capability System (formerly Capability Life Cycle).

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
