The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) invites applications for an ongoing VPS4 project support role based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct, with flexible work across other custodial precincts. Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on a ongoing basedat the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.Contribute to the successful delivery of a range of strategic projects Play a role in determining key priorities and responding to complex project issuesContribute to improving the outcomes of young people's futures.The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth Justice is committed to the demonstration of the Victorian Public Sector values. The values are: responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.Youth justice custodial precincts accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to youth justice.

The opportunity

Ongoing, full-time position based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct but working flexibly across other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts (Malmsbury & Cherry Creek), where needed to respond to operational requirements.VPS4 role: $100,894 - $114,476 per year plus super.Provide specialist support to the Youth Justice Custodial Directorate team to develop and deliver high priority project deliverables.Create and maintain templates and tools, administrative systems and processes to assist with the timely delivery of accurate and high-quality project deliverables, including reports and business cases.Maintain strong compliance with the departmental record management systems TRIM and SharePoint, ensuring that all documents are managed and stored in line with departmental and Youth Justice practices and policies.Prepare documentation and reports for key decision-making bodies, senior executives and government, and support the implementation of agreed outcomes. Undertake data analysis and prepare data reports on Youth Justice operational trends. Provide project management support, including consultation, secretariat support to key governance forums, to ensure that objectives and commitments are met.Maintain oversight and monitor project delivery against strategic priorities.Manage the workflow of briefings, reports and correspondence, as well as assist in the preparation of draft responses for consideration.Support the development of high level and authoritative advice on complex and potentially sensitive matters, to support the strategic delivery of priority operational projects.

To be successful in this role

To be successful in this role you will have experienceA tertiary qualification in public administration or a similar discipline is desirable.Experience in, or knowledge of, the Youth Justice Custodial environment.Demonstrated experience in project management support and reporting.Demonstrated ability to determine priorities in an environment of tight and conflicting deadlines, to take initiative and work under limited direction.High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.To learn more about the type of skills you will need to thrive in this role, please read the position description.
