About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Division

The School & Regional Services, South-Western Victoria Region is responsible for implementing government learning and development strategies through networks of government schools and early childhood providers.

Multi-disciplinary teams across areas and divisions work collaboratively across the region to:

  • Deliver high quality education and early childhood services that are responsive to local needs.
  • Improve early childhood service and school outcomes and performance across the region.
  • Provide coordination and oversight of the delivery of services that support the health, wellbeing and engagement of children and young people to enable them to learn and develop to their full potential.
About the Role

The purpose of the role of the Administration Officer is to provide high quality executive and administrative support to a regional executive director to assist in the delivery of the Department of Education's priorities and objectives. The role will also support coordination of the administrative support functions across the area or division. It is recognised that the role is critical to the effective operations of the department. The role involves periods of sustained independent work, as well as frequent and varied contact with department employees and members of the community. The role demands flexibility and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and supportive way with all other staff. The officer will demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, integrity and initiative in the performance of their tasks, which include:

  • Executive support to the Executive Director including diary management, correspondence, email and records management.
  • Meeting and event management on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Supporting the coordination of administrative support across the area/division.
  • Delivering process improvement projects as required by the area/division.
  • Program administration support as required.
