Job summary

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Project Safety Advisor to join our SA Construction team in Adelaide. You will support the WHSE Manager and Site Manager, drive safety, environmental and quality policies, and assist in implementing the Project Safety Management Plan.

Responsibilities include reviewing subcontractor Safe Work Method Statements and communicating health and safety information across sites, with opportunities to deliver training sessions on safety topics.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety.
• Experience in construction, OHS, safety or related disciplines is beneficial.
• Ability to communicate, influence and build relationships at all levels.
• Demonstrated autonomous work style with sound judgment.
• Proven teamwork and confidentiality in daily work.

Job description

BESIX Watpac are looking for a Project Safety Advisor or Workplace Health Safety Environment (WHSE) Advisor to join our SA Construction team in delivering a range of major construction projects in Adelaide and the surrounding regions. Duties will include;

• Undertake WHSE duties as directed by the WHSE Manager and Site Manager consistent with the requirements of the BESIX Watpac HSE Management Systems.
• Proactively drive company safety, environment and quality policies, practices and procedures in compliance with Management Plans and OH&S legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
• Assist with the development and implementation of the Project Safety Management Plan.
• Assist in the review of Safe Work Method Statements or equivalent provided by the subcontractors prior to commencement of work.
• Facilitate the dissemination of health safety environment information to all relevant personnel.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

• Must hold a Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety.
• Other qualifications in Construction, OHS, Safety, Environment or a related discipline are beneficial.
• Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business with a particularly strong internal customer focus.
• Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Proven high level of professionalism, maturity, candour, and confidentiality in daily work ethic.
• Ability to deliver small training sessions on subject expertise such as Safety Inductions, Critical Incident Management etc.
