When you join us, you can enjoy a variety of benefits, including:
The Project Officer is responsible for managing low value, low risk and complexity projects and breakdown repairs or discrete elements within low to medium value, risk, and complexity projects. The role contributes to and supports project teams of in house and private sector professionals to plan and deliver projects for government and administers project management systems and maintenance of information. The Project Officer also contributes to the procurement of trades and services for building construction and maintenance works and liaises and maintains relationships with key stakeholders.
You may not have worked in government or construction before, and that is okay. What matters most is that you are organised, curious, practical and ready to learn. The Buildings and Contracts Academy is designed for people who can bring strong transferable skills from other industries and apply them to the delivery and maintenance of non-residential infrastructure for the Western Australian Government, including facilities such as schools, police stations and hospitals.
You might have experience coordinating work, solving problems under pressure, keeping records accurate, supporting procurement or contracts, managing competing priorities, working with customers or stakeholders, or getting things done in operational, logistics, facilities, maintenance, asset management or service delivery environments. If you enjoy working with people, making sense of information, following good process and seeing a job through from start to finish, this program can help you build the technical knowledge and confidence needed to step into a project officer role.
As part of the Academy, you will be supported to develop the skills needed to help plan, procure, coordinate and deliver building works that support essential public services across Western Australia. We are looking for people who communicate clearly, build positive relationships, take responsibility for their work, and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to projects that benefit the community.
We are currently recruiting for both the works delivery and maintenance streams of the Buildings and Contracts Academy. If you are ready for a career change and want to build practical skills while contributing to important public infrastructure for the Western Australian community, we encourage you to apply.
