The Role

The Project Officer provides support and coordination for projects within the department. In this position, the Project Officer works as part of the Infrastructure Planning and Property team to support strategic infrastructure planning and the effective management of property matters across Victoria's TAFE network and public tertiary education sector.

The position contributes to the development and maintenance of the TAFE Network Asset Strategy and the evidence base used to identify and prioritise infrastructure need. This includes maintaining comprehensive infrastructure, asset and property records; analysing asset, demographic, spatial and other information; and supporting the preparation of capital investment proposals and the annual TAFE capital budget bid.

The position also supports the administration and oversight of the Minister owned real property management accountabilities in relation to Victorian TAFEs and public universities. It contributes analysis, advice, project coordination and stakeholder engagement across property projects and transactions, including leases, licences, acquisitions, disposals, master planning and government-led precinct developments.

The Team

The position of Project Officer will work within Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery Branch, which sits within Skills and TAFE Group.

Skills and TAFE (S&T) focuses on enabling Victorians to access the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to participate in today's workforce, prepare for future jobs, and achieve their educational aspirations.

Working in close partnership with the Victorian Skills Authority (VSA), S&T provides leadership and stewardship of a responsive, high-quality vocational education and training (VET) system. This includes oversight of the Victorian TAFE Network, led by the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD), and the apprenticeships system, with a strong focus on aligning training with industry needs and strengthening pathways into the workforce.

S&T supports lifelong learning and inclusive education through Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) and the Learn Local network, helping adult learners progress into further study or work. S&T collaborates across government, industry, education providers, and communities to deliver skills-focused solutions that improve workforce outcomes and enable businesses to access a skilled workforce.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

• Strategic Planning: Ensures day to day planning and work processes are in line with team/organisation strategy; Identifies and develops own and team objectives linking strategies to actions to achieve these; Guides others in strategic planning process.
• Project Delivery: Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes; Coordinates and guides others in the execution of work activities; Monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
• Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Resolves issues through deep understanding/interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines aren't available, analyses ideas available and takes action including in consultation with others to resolve problems.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder; Links people with other areas as appropriate; Monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; Constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
• Data Literacy: Considers data sources, collection and structure impacts in the delivery of data analysis. Generates descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisation leading to decisions under the guidance from subject matter experts.
