Sydney Water in Parramatta is seeking a qualified environmental scientist to lead a collaborative program between Sydney Water and EPA to better understand interactions between waterways and wastewater. The project is complex and involves wastewater operations, receiving environments, public health and Aboriginal cultural values.

The role requires tertiary qualifications, experience leading cross-disciplinary projects, strong regulatory knowledge, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to

Qualificações

  • Must hold tertiary qualification in Science/Environmental Management or relevant discipline.
  • Experience leading complex scientific/environmental projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of scientific, environmental and regulatory principles.
  • Ability to manage schedules, budgets, risks and external vendors.

Responsabilidades

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary Sydney Water team, independent experts and regulators to implement a new framework for assessing wastewater impacts on waterways.
  • Integrate data from environmental monitoring, regulatory requirements, asset performance, cost and stakeholder input into decisions.
  • Provide guidance for development, delivery and analysis of environmental and aquatic monitoring programs.
  • Embed Aboriginal cultural values of waterways in project decision making through respectful engagement.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and community engagement reflecting customers' environmental priorities.

About The Role

This roleis responsible forimplementinganewcollaborative scientificprogram between Sydney Water and the EPAtobetter understand interactionsbetweenwaterways and wastewater.It is acomplexscience-basedprojectthat requires consideration ofwastewater operations,receiving environments,publichealthand Aboriginal cultural values.

Responsibilities:
  • Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary Sydney Water team, independent experts, and regulators to implement a new framework to assess and manage the impact of wastewater discharges to waterways
  • Effectively integrate multiple complex and sometimes competing considerations into your decisions including data from environmental monitoring, regulatory requirements, asset performance, cost effectiveness, expert and stakeholder input.
  • Provide effective guidance for the development, delivery and analytical outputs of environmental and aquatic monitoring programs.
  • Ensuring Aboriginal cultural values of waterways are embedded in project decision making via effective, respectful engagement.
  • Manage effective stakeholder relationships, ensure effective community engagement and reflect customers' environmental priorities.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Science/ Environmental Management or relevant discipline
  • Experience leading complex scientific or environmental projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of scientific, environmental and regulatory principles
  • Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, risks and external vendors
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Ability to balance technical, environmental, financial and customer needs
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Ability to work within project management frameworks, systems and processes
  • Commitment to community outcomes, including respect for Aboriginal cultural values and waterways
