Job summary

Polaris Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Fabrication Project Manager to join our Henderson-based team. This local, full-time role requires hands-on experience in heavy fabrication and relevant fabrication qualifications.

• Engineering fabrication qualification or a Project Management degree with proven fabrication exposure.
• Proven workshop experience within a heavy fabrication environment.
• 5+ years of project management experience in heavy fabrication, mining, or resources.
• Strong skills with MS Office (Excel) and ERP manufacturing/project systems.
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary client focal point for all project-related communication.
• Lead the team across engineering, design, and workshop execution phases.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, priorities, and cost forecasts.
• Provide clear priorities to design, engineering, and workshop production teams to ensure on-time delivery.
• Develop accurate cost estimates, variations, and invoicing while managing project cash flow.
• Coordinate project scope through design, workpack development, and workshop assembly.
• Ensure projects are resourced with the correct personnel, skills, and materials.
• Manage external subcontractors and suppliers to maintain timelines and quality.
• Provide strong safety leadership and ensure ISO 9001:2015 QA compliance.

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and proactive Fabrication Project Manager to join our team based at our Henderson premises. This is a local, full-time position ideal for a hands-on professional with strong workshop experience and relevant fabrication qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Focal Point: Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communication.

Project Leadership: Lead the team to deliver successful projects across engineering, design, and workshop execution phases.

Planning & Scheduling: Develop, update, and monitor project schedules, priorities, and cost forecasts.

Team Coordination: Provide clear priorities to design, engineering, and workshop production teams to guarantee on-time delivery.

Commercial Management: Develop accurate cost estimates, variations, and schedule estimates while managing project invoicing for healthy cash flow.

Scope Management: Coordinate project scope through design, workpack development, and workshop assembly.

Resource Allocation: Ensure projects are suitably resourced with the correct personnel, skills, and materials.

Subcontractor Management: Manage external subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project timelines and quality standards.

QHSE & Compliance: Provide strong safety leadership, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 QA guidelines and company policies.

Reporting: Produce regular progress, financial, and timeline reports for senior management and clients.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications (Essential): Engineering fabrication qualification, relevant trade qualification, or Project Management degree with proven engineering fabrication experience.

Workshop Experience (Essential): Proven track record working directly within a heavy fabrication workshop environment.

Industry Experience: 5+ years of project management experience, ideally within heavy fabrication, mining, or resources.

Systems Literacy: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP manufacturing/project systems.

Communication: Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments and manage stakeholder relationships.

Attributes: High attention to detail, resilience in a fast-paced environment, and strong cost-control skills.

Compliance: Valid right to work in Australia and a current manual driver's licence.
