Job summary

Beresfield-based Project Manager – Mechanical / Engineering is needed for a temp-to-perm opportunity with Chandler Macleod. The role focuses on delivering mechanical and engineering projects, initially supporting Sydney Water initiatives, with hands-on project controls, contract administration and client liaison.

You will report to the Service Centre Manager, managing documentation, cost tracking and stakeholder relationships while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing and site teams.

• Experience with progress claims, cost tracking and variations.

Responsibilities

• Manage project programmes, schedules and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate project documentation and document control.
• Generate, coordinate and track QA documentation.
• Support safety documentation and compliance requirements.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and project cost tracking.
• Prepare monthly progress claims and substantiation.
• Manage delay notifications, variations and contractual claims.
• Coordinate subcontractors and monitor performance.
• Manage supplier onboarding and compliance.
• Provide contract administration and commercial support.
• Support site mobilisation, accommodation and logistics planning.
• Act as primary contact for clients.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, manufacturing and site teams.
• Attend project sites 2–4 visits per month.

Project Manager – Mechanical / Engineering

Beresfield | $95 per hour + super | Casual | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Our client is a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation with a strong presence across the mining, minerals processing and industrial sectors. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Beresfield Service Centre.

This is an excellent temp-to-permanent opportunity for an experienced project professional looking to take ownership of mechanical and engineering projects, initially supporting the delivery of significant Sydney Water projects.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Service Centre Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from planning through to completion.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is experienced, commercially astute and comfortable taking ownership across project controls, contract administration, commercial management, client relationships and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project programmes, schedules and delivery milestones
• Coordinate project documentation and document control
• Generate, coordinate and track QA documentation
• Support safety documentation and compliance requirements
• Manage cash flow forecasting and project cost tracking
• Prepare monthly progress claims and supporting substantiation
• Manage delay notifications, variations and contractual claims
• Coordinate subcontractors and monitor performance
• Manage supplier compliance and onboarding
• Provide contract administration and commercial support
• Support site mobilisation, accommodation and logistics planning
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients
• Coordinate closely with internal engineering, manufacturing and site teams
• Attend project sites as required, typically 2-4 visits per month

About You

You will be an experienced Project Manager or Project Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering, industrial projects or heavy engineering.

Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience managing engineering or mechanical projects
• Strong project scheduling and project controls experience
• Commercial and contract administration experience
• Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers
• Experience with progress claims, cost tracking, variations and contractual matters
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of project outcomes

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience in the following environments will be highly advantageous:

• Mechanical engineering
• Water utilities or infrastructure
• Mining or mineral processing
• Heavy engineering or manufacturing
• Capital equipment / engineered-to-order projects

Experience with SAP and MS Project or similar scheduling software will also be highly regarded.
