CitiPower and Powercor Australia is seeking a Project Manager – Transmission to join a newly established team. Based in Melbourne with flexibility to be located in multiple regional hubs, you will lead delivery of critical transmission and network projects critical to Victoria’s energy future.

The role reports to the Project Director – Transmission and requires proactive, collaborative leadership, with strong PM experience in electrical utilities and a focus on governance, safety, and customer

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Accreditation as a CPPM with the Australian Institute of Project Management (or pursuing).
• Experience applying Project Management principles and Delivery Methodology in electrical distribution and sub-transmission.
• Proven ability with SAP and other project management/estimating tools.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, governance, forecasting and reporting.
• Ability to identify project risks, resources, and major plant/items during planning.
• Practical application of construction methods and their integration in project planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery with quality and OH&S compliance.
• Provide PM leadership to meet project scope, governance and customer requirements.
• Prepare, evaluate and issue tenders for construction, major equipment or materials.
• Manage project finances including cost control, variations, month-end reporting and forecasting.
• Maintain relationships with Customer and Electricity Network Groups to satisfy stakeholder needs.
• Develop and maintain strong internal/external stakeholder relationships.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing project scopes for major initiatives.
• Manage projects through full approval lifecycle following governance processes.
• Improve PM systems and capture learnings to apply across operations.

About the role

Due to significant growth across our transmission project portfolio and the recent acquisition of our Transmission Licence, we are seeking a Project Manager – Transmission to join our newly established and expanding team.

The successful candidate can be based in Melbourne CBD, Brooklyn, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, or Shepparton. While location flexibility is available, the role will require regular collaboration and team catch-ups in Melbourne and/or Brooklyn.

Reporting to the Project Director – Transmission, you will lead the delivery of critical transmission, customer connection, substation, and network infrastructure projects that support Victoria's energy future.

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly created team delivering major transmission and customer connection projects, including supporting the rapid growth of energy-intensive industries and emerging infrastructure developments. We're looking for a proactive and collaborative Project Manager with experience in electricity, utilities, infrastructure, or related sectors who can confidently lead projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Management and Leadership of major projects to achieve on time, budget, quality, OH&S, environmental standards and ensuring customer and related financial and governance requirements.
• Provide effective project management ensuring the desired outcomes of the projects are delivered in accordance with the project scope of works.
• Preparation, evaluation and issue of tenders for construction, major plant and/or materials.
• Financial management including specific cost control, variation management, accurate month end reporting and project forecasting.
• Management of the relationship with the Customer and Electricity Network Groups to ensure all stakeholder requirements are met.
• Develop and manage effective customer relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation and review of conceptual and final project scopes associated with major projects.
• Management of projects through the full approval life cycle in line with the governance process.
• Develop and improve project management systems and implement in all business operations by capturing learnings and identifying opportunities.
• Ensure that all work activities are undertaken in accordance with Regulatory policies, work practices, processes and standards.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• A Tertiary Qualification in an Engineering or associated area/ discipline
• Ability to achieve Accreditation as a CPPM with the Australian Institute of Project Management: and/or
• Experience working with Project Management principles and Project Delivery Methodology in the electrical distribution and sub-transmission areas
• Proven ability in SAP and other project management, estimating and/or management tools.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of Financial Management, project governance, forecasting and reporting.
• The ability to identify the project schedule of works during the planning stages to assess the risks, opportunities, resource requirements, major plant items, materials and construction work practices and methodologies.
• Demonstrable practical application of construction methodology and integration of this into the planning phases of the project
