Job summary

W3Global is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to lead site-based delivery on major civil infrastructure in tropical Cairns, Queensland. You will oversee planning, procurement and construction with direct access to senior management while mentoring engineers and site teams.

You will bring 10+ years of civil PM experience in Australia, a Civil Engineering degree, and proven ability to deliver water infrastructure or Transport & Main Roads projects.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years' experience on civil construction projects in Australia at PM level.
• Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Proven delivery of water infrastructure and Transport and Main Roads projects highly regarded.
• Current Transport and Main Roads personnel schedule approval is preferred.
• Strong contract administration, planning, cost control and commercial accountability.
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing engineers and site teams.
• Excellent client and stakeholder management and a practical safety mindset.
• Field or plant operation exposure is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage budgets, forecasts, costs, progress claims, variations and final accounts.
• Administer the contract and protect the commercial position.

• Maintain safety, quality, environmental and project compliance.
• Build strong relationships with clients, authorities and stakeholders.
• Identify risks early and make practical decisions to keep work moving.
• Deliver on time, within budget and to the required standard.

Our client is a respected and growing civil contractor of around 100 people, delivering road, airport, water and sewer, bridge, drainage and earthworks, plus other complex civil projects across Queensland.

About The Role

Our Project Managers are responsible for everything on their jobs. This is a site-based, boots-on-the-ground role, working alongside the construction delivery team with the support of your engineering team. You will have access to senior leaders when you need it, but you will be accountable for the overall project outcome.

• Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard

About You

You will be an established civil construction Project Manager who is comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions and developing the engineers around you.

• At least 10 years' experience working on civil construction projects in Australia at a Project Manager level
• A degree in Civil Engineering
• Proven experience delivering water infrastructure and Transport and Main Roads projects, with airport or other major civil infrastructure experience highly regarded
• Current Transport and Main Roads personnel schedule approval
• A track record of taking full responsibility for project delivery and commercial outcomes
• Strong contract administration, programming and cost control capability
• Experience managing progress claims, variations, subcontractors and suppliers
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing Project Engineers and Site Engineers
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills
• A practical approach to safety, quality, risk and problem-solving
• Field or plant operation experience will be highly regarded
