Job summary

Fetch Recruitment is seeking a Project Manager – Civil Structures for Brisbane. You will own delivery from award to handover and lead a self-performing team on dams, bridgeworks and concrete structures.

You will manage programme, cost, safety and quality with autonomy, mentoring engineers and coordinating with clients and subcontractors. This role offers a pathway to senior leadership within a respected civil contractor.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or construction management with a proven civil structures track record.
• Hands-on self-performing background with direct labour and crews on site.
• Experience with Tier 2/3 contractors, not Tier 1 or pure consultancy.
• Strong commercial skills with a history of delivering on time and on budget.
• Knowledge of QA, safety systems and contract administration.

Responsibilities

Project Manager – Civil Structures (Dams & Bridgeworks)

Location: Brisbane, QLD (Northside)

A well-established Queensland civil contractor is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of structures-focused projects across dams, bridgeworks and major concrete works.

If you want more ownership than a Tier 1 gives you, this is the role.

The work

Our projects are structures-focused: concreting, dams, bridgeworks and related civil structures. This is not a roadworks role.

What you’ll be doing

• Taking full ownership of project delivery from award through to practical completion and handover
• Leading a project team of Senior Project Engineers, Project Engineers, site supervisors and self-perform crews
• Managing programme, cost, cashflow, margin and forecasting
• Administering contracts, variations, EOTs and claims
• Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers
• Driving safety leadership, quality outcomes and compliance on site
• Managing procurement and subcontract packages
• Identifying and resolving risks and issues before they affect programme or cost
• Contributing to tender input, planning and continuous improvement

About you

• Proven experience as a Project Manager, or a strong Senior PE / Construction Manager ready to step up, delivering civil projects on the contractor side
• Hands‑on self-performing background, working with direct labour and your own plant and crews
• Experience with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 contractor (we’re not looking for Tier 1 or consulting‑only backgrounds)
• Experience in civil structures, concrete, dams, bridgeworks, water or similar major works
• Strong commercial skills, with a track record of delivering on time and on budget
• Confident leader who can mentor engineers and command respect on site
• Sound knowledge of QA, safety systems and contract administration
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (civil engineering or construction management) preferred

Highly regarded

• Formwork, reinforcement and pour (FRP) experience (preferred, not essential for this role)
• Windfarm or renewable energy civil experience (a bonus, not a requirement)
