Job summary

Halcyon Knights is seeking an experienced Project Management Practice Lead to oversee a ~40-person PM/Program Delivery team and stay closely engaged with clients across digital and technology transformation programs.

You’ll balance practice-building with hands-on delivery, governance uplift, and strong client relationships to grow both existing accounts and new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Project and Program Management within consulting or professional services.
• Proven track record delivering complex digital and technology transformation programs.
• Experience leading and developing consulting or delivery teams.
• Strong PMO, governance, assurance and/or project recovery capability.
• Ability to stay hands-on and deployable with clients.
• Commercial experience contributing to account growth, proposals or new business.

Job description

We’re partnering with an established technology consulting business looking for an experienced Project Management Practice Lead to lead and grow its project delivery capability.

This is not a purely operational or people leadership role. You’ll oversee a practice of approximately 40 consultants, while remaining highly client-facing and deployable across complex digital and technology transformation engagements.

Around 70% of your time will be client-facing, working across areas such as major program delivery, PMO advisory, governance uplift and project recovery. The remainder will focus on building the practice: developing capability, lifting delivery standards, supporting your team and helping grow existing and new client relationships.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and developing a consulting practice of approximately 40 Project and Program Management professionals
• Remaining hands-on across complex digital and technology transformation programs
• Providing Program Management, PMO advisory, governance and project recovery expertise to clients
• Building capability across the practice through coaching, development and performance management
• Driving quality and consistency across client engagements
• Supporting workforce planning, budgets and utilisation
• Building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders
• Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and win new clients
• Continuing to evolve the practice as the business grows

You’ll ideally bring:

• Significant Project and Program Management experience within consulting or professional services
• A strong track record delivering complex digital and technology transformation programs
• Experience leading and developing consulting or delivery teams
• Strong PMO, governance, assurance and/or project recovery capability
• The ability and appetite to remain hands-on and deployable with clients
Commercial experience contributing to account growth, proposals or new business
• Experience working across multiple industries or client environments
• Strong executive stakeholder management and consulting skills

This would suit an experienced Practice Lead, Consulting Director, Delivery Director, Program Director or Principal who enjoys building high-performing teams but doesn’t want to move away from delivery.
