Job summary

You will deliver essential geological support, ensuring accurate ore control, data collection, and integrated models for efficient production.

Responsibilities include ore control, mapping, drillhole planning, data QA/QC, and mentoring team members in geology software to maximise recovery and minimise dilution.

The Opportunity

MinRes is looking for an experienced Project Geologist to join our high-performing team at our Wodgina operation on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

MinRes is seeking Project geologist to provide essential geological support to our Lithium Operation—ensuring precise ore control, accurate data collection, and insightful interpretation to maximise recovery and minimise dilution. You’ll work as part of the Mine Technical Services team, closely collaborating with mining engineers and surveyors to ensure geological models are seamlessly integrated into daily mine plans, driving efficient and effective production outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform daily ore control and grade monitoring activities.
• Conduct geological mapping and logging.
• Develop blast hole sampling plans to inform the grade control model.
• Interpret geological data and update 3D models in line with operational requirements.
• Create dig blocks to support mining in a timely manner.
• Build capability within the Mine Geology team by upskilling staff in appropriate software, including Leapfrog for drillhole wireframing, and organising training schedules to ensure competency.
• Liaise with mine planning, laboratory, and production teams to ensure continuous geological support for ore extraction.
• Maintain geological databases, including QA/QC checks and analysis.
• Conduct geological model reconciliation and end‑of‑month processes.

What is required:

• Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology) or equivalent is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience working within an open pit production environment, Hard rock experience is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in geological modelling software and database management systems.
• Strong understanding of RC drilling, sampling and logging, geological mapping, open pit mining methodology and processes.
• High level of communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others.

The Wodgina lithium is a world class hard rock lithium asset, located 120km south of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. MinRes manages all mining operations at Wodgina, including a spodumene concentrate processing plant with an annual capacity of 900,000 tonnes (SC5.5).
