Job description

MinRes can offer you!
  • Make a business-wide impact by improving reconciliation across MinRes operations, influencing decisions from resource and reserve models through to production and processing.
  • Build your breadth and influence through exposure to diverse operational environments and collaboration with site and Perth-based Technical Services, Mining, Production and Processing teams.
  • Develop people as well as processes by coaching site geology teams, sharing your expertise and helping build a more capable, self-sufficient technical workforce.
The Opportunity

MinRes are looking for an experienced Senior Geologist on a 4x3x8x6 or an 8x6 roster to help strengthen reconciliation capability and operational geology support across our operating sites.

This is a pivotal technical role working across the mine value chain, from mineral resource and ore reserve models through mining, processing and operational delivery. You will help ensure that inputs and outputs are accurately measured, reconciliation variances are understood and managed, and site teams have the systems, knowledge and support needed to take timely corrective action.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Principal Geologist, Reconciliation and Operational Support, you will:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of MinRes’ reconciliation framework across multiple operations.
  • Analyse reconciliation performance and investigate variances across the mine value chain, including deviations from budget, operational plans and changing orebody characteristics.
  • Coordinate consistent monthly and quarterly reconciliation reporting across the business.
  • Embed practical procedures, systems and data-management tools that support accurate and consistent reconciliation practices.
  • Work closely with Technical Services, Mining, Production and Processing teams to assess planning inputs and support operational delivery.
  • Help ensure appropriate geological and planning models are applied correctly throughout the mine value chain.
  • Implement and maintain Vulcan Grade Control systems, including consistent grade-control practices, model parameters and classification protocols.
  • Provide hands-on operational geology support, coaching and mentoring to site geology and technical teams.
  • Travel between sites as required, identifying capability gaps, setting clear expectations and helping teams adopt standardised, fit-for-purpose processes.
What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualification in Geoscience.
  • Extensive experience in mining or natural resources, including senior mine-site experience.
  • Practical exposure to open-pit and/or underground operations.
  • Strong operational production geology experience and a sound understanding of mine-planning processes.
  • A practical understanding of the full mine value chain and the ability to connect resource, mining, processing and operational outcomes.
  • Experience working across varied production environments, sites, commodities or companies.
  • Demonstrated capability in reconciliation processes, trend analysis and operational improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain the purpose and benefits of process changes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A self-starting, organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in geology 3D software - ideally Vulcan and Surpac and a high level of attention to detail.
