Job summary

A well-funded exploration company in Tasmania is looking for a Project Geologist to join a capable team on an exciting copper-gold project. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in geological exploration, strong field capabilities, and proficiency with tools such as QGIS and Micromine. This role offers substantial input into exploration strategies within a flexible and collaborative culture. The position involves leading mapping and drilling programs and preparing technical reports.

• Background in copper or gold systems like porphyry, VMS, or epithermal.
• Able to lead contractor teams and manage field programs.

My client is a well-funded explorattion company who are ramping up for a busy year in exploraiton in 2026

They are currently looking for a Project Geologist to join a small, highly capable team at the early stages of an exciting copper-gold project.

If you're someone who enjoys turning grassroots datasets into real targets and taking ownership of drilling, mapping, and geochem programs - this is a role with plenty of scope and exciting potential.

About the Role

• Lead the planning and execution of mapping, sampling, and drilling programs
• Supervise contractors and ensure field programs run safely and efficiently
• Conduct logging, QA/QC, and data management using industry tools
• Integrate geochem, geophysics, and structural mapping to define targets
• Liaise with database and geophysics teams to support interpretation
• Prepare clear technical reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders
• Work closely with senior decision-makers in a collaborative, down-to-earth team

About You

• Degree qualified geologist with around 5 -10 years' experience in exploration
• Background in copper or gold systems - porphyry, VMS, or epithermal experience ideal
• Strong field capabilities - able to run programs and lead contractor teams
• Comfortable working with early-stage datasets and refining exploration plans
• Familiar with software such as QGIS, Micromine, Leapfrog, or Geoscience Analyst
• Strong communicator who can work independently and as part of a small team
• Willing to travel for short field campaigns (max 2 weeks at a time)
