Job summary

John Holland Pty Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer for a tunnel civil fitout in Adelaide, SA. You will own the tunnel civil fitout package and provide technical and delivery leadership, coordinating precast barrier installation and panel/self-delivery activities.

You will work with the Project Manager, Site Supervisors and subcontractors to deliver works safely, on time and to the required quality. The role also involves mentoring two Site Engineers and reporting progress regularly.

Qualifications

• Experience on major civil infrastructure projects with tunnel, roads, structures or major transport exposure.
• Strong delivery and coordination skills.
• Experience with precast elements, barriers and similar civil/structural components is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day engineering and delivery for the tunnel civil fitout package.
• Plan and coordinate precast barrier installation, sequencing and site access.
• Coordinate panel and barrier self-delivery, ensuring materials align with programme.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant and resources to maintain programme.
• Review drawings, specs and technical documentation; support programmes and short-term work plans.
• Monitor progress, productivity, costs and resource requirements; manage RFIs and quality docs.
• Provide leadership to two Site Engineers and report to the Project Manager.

About the Role

As Project Engineer, you will take ownership of the tunnel civil fitout package and provide technical and delivery leadership across the works.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the day-to-day engineering and delivery requirements for the tunnel civil fitout package.
• Planning and coordinating precast barrier installation, including logistics, sequencing and site access.
• Managing panel and barrier self-delivery activities, ensuring materials are available in line with the construction programme.
• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, plant and resources to maintain project programme and productivity.
• Reviewing construction methodologies, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Supporting the development and implementation of construction programmes and short-term work plans.
• Monitoring progress, productivity, costs and resource requirements.
• Managing RFIs, technical queries, inspections, ITPs and quality documentation.
• Working closely with the construction team to resolve technical and delivery issues.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements and safety standards.
• Maintaining accurate project records and providing regular reporting to the Project Manager.
• Identifying construction risks and opportunities and developing practical solutions.
• Providing leadership and mentoring to two Site Engineers who will report directly to you.

About you

You will be an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in civil infrastructure construction, ideally with experience in tunnels, roads, structures or major transport projects.

You will bring:

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer on major civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong construction delivery and project coordination skills.
• Experience working with precast elements, barriers, panels or similar civil/structural components is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and site logistics.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project cost and programme drivers.
• The ability to lead and develop junior engineers.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to construction delivery.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental requirements.
