Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead projects in Melbourne, Australia. You'll manage the delivery of multi-year engineering projects across various sectors and ensure quality outcomes while mentoring junior staff.

Our team is working on small, medium and large projects across a range of sectors, including projects in Defence, Data Centres and DFAT. But we have a national team approach to all our projects, which means you will work on projects across Australia, not just projects in the VIC, ensuring you gain a breadth of experience across a diverse range of projects and industries.

What you’ll do:

  • Project lead work across the design, delivery and tender phases for multi‑year/packaged work for turnkey projects;

  • Ensure timely and quality of delivery for project and structural engineering work in support of relevant technical, commercial and regulatory standards – and in alignment with schedules and budgets;

  • Handle ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with local clients;

  • Manage effective stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally;

  • Provide sound technical/delivery guidance for the team;

  • Mentor, train and develop the careers of junior engineers;

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting.

About You

  • Bachelor to Masters’ level degree (Civil/Structural Engineering)

  • 5-8 years industry experience in the Property and Building space within consulting.

  • Commercial experience in Australia on local medium/large engineering projects is essential.

  • Well versed in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging in scale and sector eg; commercial, retail, defence, health, education.

  • Solid proficiency in all-round structural engineering design including post‑tensioned concrete;

  • Track record of effective cross‑discipline project delivery

  • The ability to lead, train and mentor junior engineers across technical and project delivery aspects.
