Job summary

Snowy Hydro Limited in New South Wales is seeking a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner's team on Snowy 2.0. You will provide onsite engineering oversight and assurance for steel lining construction, reporting to the Project Manager - Mechanical Installations.

The role requires a recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience delivering complex infrastructure, knowledge of heavy wall welding and installation practices, and strong communication to coordinate across remote

Qualifications

• A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of heavy wall welding and steel lining construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to coordinate across remote site teams.

Responsibilities

• Construction Oversight & Assurance: ensure contractor activities comply with design requirements, IFC drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Proactive Monitoring: review site work to identify potential performance deficiencies, quality issues, or delays.
• Safety & Culture: maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental practices on site.
• Reporting & Documentation: assist with progress reporting, readiness reviews, and defect corrective actions.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: build strong relationships across multidisciplinary site teams and external consultants.

About the position:

We are seeking a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner's team on Snowy 2.0.

In this role, you will provide critical onsite engineering oversight and assurance for the construction and installation of steel linings. Reporting to the Project Manager - Mechanical Installations, you will work closely with contractors to ensure all build quality meets strict Employer's Requirements (ER) while proactively resolving technical issues before they impact project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Oversight & Assurance: Ensure contractor activities strictly comply with design requirements, IFC drawings, specifications, and project standards.

Proactive Monitoring: Review site work regularly to identify potential performance deficiencies, quality issues, or delays early.

Safety & Culture: Maintain the highest standard of health, safety, and environmental practices in line with project values.

Reporting & Documentation: Support Senior Project Engineers and Technical Officers with progress reporting, readiness reviews, and defect corrective actions.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary site teams, business partners, and external consultants.

About the location:

This role is located at our Lobs Hole site, working a 14/7 FIFO roster. Standard FIFO and Camp arrangement included

About you:

Qualifications: A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: Previous engineering experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield environments.

Technical Knowledge: Hands-on knowledge of heavy wall welding, steel lining construction, and installation practices is highly regarded.

Communication & Drive: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse, remote site teams.

Autonomy: Ability to set priorities, work independently, and adapt flexibly in a fast-paced site environment.
