Snowy Hydro is seeking a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner’s team on Snowy 2.0. A Mechanical Engineering degree and hands-on steel lining experience are required, with knowledge of heavy wall welding and installation practices.

Role is based at the Lobs Hole site, operating on a 14/7 FIFO roster. You will oversee construction activities, monitor progress, uphold safety standards, and report to Senior Project Engineers while collaborating with remote teams.

Qualifications

• A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of heavy wall welding and steel lining construction; strong installation practices.

Responsabilités

• Construction oversight and assurance to ensure contractor work meets design requirements and standards.
• Proactive monitoring of site work to identify deficiencies, quality issues, or delays.
• Maintain high safety and environmental practices in line with project values.
• Support reporting, readiness reviews, and defect corrective actions with Senior Project Engineers.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary site teams, business partners, and consultants.

About the position:

We are seeking a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner’s team on Snowy 2.0.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construction Oversight & Assurance: Ensure contractor activities strictly comply with design requirements, IFC drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Proactive Monitoring: Review site work regularly to identify potential performance deficiencies, quality issues, or delays early.
• Safety & Culture: Maintain the highest standard of health, safety, and environmental practices in line with project values.
• Reporting & Documentation: Support Senior Project Engineers and Technical Officers with progress reporting, readiness reviews, and defect corrective actions.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary site teams, business partners, and external consultants.

About you:

• Qualifications: A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Previous engineering experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield environments.
• Technical Knowledge: Hands-on knowledge of heavy wall welding, steel lining construction, and installation practices is highly regarded.
• Communication & Drive: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse, remote site teams.
• Autonomy: Ability to set priorities, work independently, and adapt flexibly in a fast-paced site environment.
