Snowy Hydro invites applications for a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner's team on Snowy 2.0. You will provide onsite engineering oversight for steel lining construction and ensure quality meets Employer's Requirements, working with contractors to resolve issues before impact.

Based at Lobs Hole site on a 14/7 FIFO roster, the role requires a recognised Mechanical Engineering degree and proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield

Qualifications

• A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure projects on greenfield or brownfield sites.
• Hands-on knowledge of heavy-wall welding and steel lining construction.
• Strong written and verbal communication across remote site teams.
• Autonomy to set priorities and work independently on a fast-paced site.

Responsabilités

• Construction Oversight & Assurance: Ensure contractor activities comply with design requirements, IFC drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Proactive Monitoring: Review site work regularly to identify potential performance deficiencies, quality issues, or delays early.
• Safety & Culture: Maintain the highest standard of health, safety, and environmental practices in line with project values.
• Reporting & Documentation: Support Senior Project Engineers with progress reporting, readiness reviews, and defect corrective actions.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary site teams, business partners, and external consultants.

Job description

We are seeking a Project Engineer - Steel Linings to join the Owner's team on Snowy 2.0.

In this role, you will provide critical onsite engineering oversight and assurance for the construction and installation of steel linings. Reporting to the Project Manager - Mechanical Installations, you will work closely with contractors to ensure all build quality meets strict Employer's Requirements (ER) while proactively resolving technical issues before they impact project delivery.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary site teams, business partners, and external consultants.

About the location

This role is located at our Lobs Hole site, working a 14/7 FIFO roster. Standard FIFO and Camp arrangement included.

About you

• Qualifications: A recognised tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Previous engineering experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across greenfield or brownfield environments.
• Technical Knowledge: Hands‑on knowledge of heavy wall welding, steel lining construction, and installation practices is highly regarded.
• Communication & Drive: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse, remote site teams.
• Autonomy: Ability to set priorities, work independently, and adapt flexibly in a fast‑paced site environment.
