Job summary

Kyogle Council is seeking a motivated Project Engineer or Project Manager to join the Assets and Infrastructure Services team for a two-year assignment. You will deliver planning, delivery, and contract management across diverse regional infrastructure, working with a broad range of stakeholders.

The role offers a career-graded path (Grade 8-9) with a salary starting at 89,107.20 AUD per year and up to 120,218.80 AUD per year, depending on experience.

Project Engineer/Project Manager - Temporary 2 Years

Are you ready to play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure across a unique and diverse regional community? Kyogle Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Project Engineer or Project Manager to join our Assets and Infrastructure Services team for a two year period.

This is a career-graded opportunity (Grade 8-9), suited to professionals at different stages of their career who are passionate about delivering high-quality outcomes for the community.

Salary: Grade 8-9. Starting at $89,107.20 pa or up to $120,218.80 pa depending on experience

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director Assets & Infrastructure Services, this position is responsible for delivering project management and contract management services across a wide range of infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all legislative and Council requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver project and contract management services across Council infrastructure projects
• Plan, program, and deliver capital works activities
• Prepare tenders, contracts, specifications, and project documentation
• Prepare project plans, estimates, and job packages
• Manage external grant applications and funding administration
• Assist in road maintenance delivery on behalf of Transport for NSW
• Support survey, design, and development-related technical assessments
• Coordinate infrastructure works within road reserves and third-party developments
• Contribute to asset data collection, reporting, and system improvements
• Assist in the development of strategic and asset management plans
• Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety, environmental, and legislative requirements

About You:

You are a qualified engineering professional with experience in project and/or contract management, capable of delivering infrastructure projects from planning through to completion. You have strong technical skills in civil engineering design, documentation, and relevant legislation, along with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.

You communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, work both independently and collaboratively, and maintain a high standard of professionalism and customer service. You are organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance outcomes.

You hold a relevant tertiary qualification, a Class C Driver's Licence, and a White Card, with experience in local government, asset management, or transport and infrastructure projects considered highly desirable.
