Job summary

Durack Civil is seeking a driven Project Engineer to join our Precontracts team, based from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. This role offers a pathway from project delivery into estimating and precontracts, with exposure to a broad range of tenders and civil infrastructure projects across QLD and beyond.

You'll work with our estimators and delivery teams, applying practical construction knowledge to tender documentation, pricing and risk assessment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering or similar qualification.
• Civil construction experience in Project/Site Engineer roles.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, quantities, drawings and specs.
• Experience in roadworks, earthworks, drainage or pavements is highly regarded.
• TMR and local government experience is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Confident working with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Current Driver Licence.
• Estimating or precontracts experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of tenders and cost estimates for civil construction projects.
• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Complete quantity take-offs and assist with pricing construction activities.
• Develop construction methodologies and provide practical delivery input into tenders.
• Prepare and issue subcontractor and supplier RFQs.
• Review supplier and subcontractor pricing and assist with tender comparisons.
• Identify project risks, opportunities and potential construction constraints.
• Assist with tender programmes, resourcing and project planning.
• Work closely with the delivery team to ensure estimates reflect practical construction methodologies.
• Participate in tender reviews and handovers to project delivery teams.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and other stakeholders.
• Support the broader precontracts team across upcoming opportunities.

Durack Civil is looking for a driven Project Engineer to join our Precontracts team, based from either the Gold Coast or Brisbane.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced civil Project Engineer looking to make the move from project delivery into estimating and precontracts.

Previous precontracts or estimating experience isn't essential. We're equally interested in delivery-based Engineers who understand civil construction, knows what it takes to build a job, and are keen to apply that knowledge to tenders and estimating.

You'll work closely with our experienced team of estimators across a strong pipeline of civil infrastructure projects throughout QLD, NSW, NT & WA.

We are a civil contractor specialising in roadworks, pavements and stabilisation, drainage and culvert upgrades, and flood restoration works.
