Job summary

Mount Isa Mines, part of Glencore, is seeking a Project Engineer - Mechanical for the Smelter Projects Department in Mount Isa, Queensland. The role is residentially based in Mount Isa on a 5/2 4/3 roster, delivering mechanical projects within a safety-focused environment.

You will drive project scoping, design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and QA activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve safe, on-time outcomes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices.
• Experience in mechanical engineering including project scoping, design, fabrication, installation, commissioning and QA.
• Proven ability to manage multiple project phases from concept to completion.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Deliver safe, efficient, and compliant outcomes in line with operational and business objectives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the site and broader business.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance performance and productivity.

Required Experience

Qualifications & Skills

• A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• A strong commitment to safety leadership, fostering a positive safety culture and adherence to safe work practices.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering, including project scoping, design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and quality assurance activities.
• Proven success in delivering mechanical projects, with the ability to manage multiple project phases from concept through to completion.
• Well-developed problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet project objectives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business and project management systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
