Job summary

Johnson Controls, in partnership with Gordon Brothers Industries (GBI), seeks a Project Engineer in Melbourne to design, deliver, commission, and support industrial refrigeration systems and associated process equipment.

You will lead engineering calculations, prepare tenders, manage delivery from concept to commissioning, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and mentor graduates while upholding safety standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor-level engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Chemical or related discipline.
Experience delivering engineering design and project execution in industrial refrigeration, compression, process engineering, or rotating equipment contexts.
Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, ammonia refrigeration, process cooling, or related heavy industrial applications.

Responsibilities

Deliver detailed engineering calculations and design solutions for industrial refrigeration and compression systems.
Develop estimates and proposals for minor and major capital projects.
Prepare technical tender submissions per client specs and deadlines.
Evaluate existing refrigeration plants and identify opportunities for upgrades and optimisations.
Manage project delivery from concept through commissioning, including procurement, scheduling, and cost control.
Coordinate multidisciplinary resources to ensure successful outcomes.
Conduct audits and safety reviews, prepare client reports and recommendations.
Ensure compliance with Australian and international industry standards.
