Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design and documentation for Tangkam BESS project packages. You will liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and construction teams to keep design and site delivery aligned, review vendor data and support commissioning with RFIs and markups.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and hands‑on design experience for infrastructure or utilities, with familiarity of AS/NZS standards and tools like

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).
• Electrical design experience in infrastructure or utilities.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and AS 2067.
• Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD or Revit.
• Clear communication and strong teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical design and documentation for assigned packages.
• Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines and project interfaces.
• Verify designs and perform quality checks on deliverables.
• Prepare scope documents, datasheets and take-offs for procurement and construction.
• Support construction and commissioning, including RFIs, site queries and red-line markups.
• Prepare safe work method statements and inspection and test plans.
• Partner with clients, consultants and construction teams in design reviews.

About the Opportunity

Own the electrical design and documentation for your assigned packages, from drawings and cable schedules to specifications. You will report to the Project Manager and work with clients, consultants, subcontractors and construction teams to keep design and site delivery aligned. Review vendor data, verify designs and support construction and commissioning, including RFIs and red-line markups. Help improve design standards and templates. Apply sound engineering judgement to resolve design issues, and build experience across every stage of a grid-connected energy storage project.

Project Information

The Tangkam battery energy storage system (BESS) project sits about 30km northwest of Toowoomba, Queensland. This new 100MW, 2 hour (200MWh) facility will connect to the grid through an existing Powerlink substation. Once operational, it will store surplus daytime energy for evening peak demand and support grid stability, replacing inertia traditionally provided by coal and gas power plants.
