ACCIONA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to own the electrical design for the Tangkam BESS project near Toowoomba, Queensland. You will develop drawings, cable schedules, and specifications, working with clients and construction teams to keep design and site delivery aligned.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, experience in infrastructure, and proficiency with AutoCAD, PowerCAD or Revit, plus strong communication and teamwork across disciplines.

Project Information

The Tangkam battery energy storage system (BESS) project sits about 30km northwest of Toowoomba, Queensland. This new 100MW, 2 hour (200MWh) facility will connect to the grid through an existing Powerlink substation. Once operational, it will store surplus daytime energy for evening peak demand and support grid stability, replacing inertia traditionally provided by coal and gas power plants.

About the Opportunity

Own the electrical design and documentation for your assigned packages, from drawings and cable schedules to specifications. You will report to the Project Manager and work with clients, consultants, subcontractors and construction teams to keep design and site delivery aligned.

Review vendor data, verify designs and support construction and commissioning, including RFIs and red-line markups. Help improve design standards and templates. Apply sound engineering judgement to resolve design issues, and build experience across every stage of a grid-connected energy storage project.

Key accountabilities for the position will be:

• Deliver electrical design and documentation for your assigned project packages

• Prepare scope documents, datasheets and take-offs for procurement and construction
• Support construction and commissioning, including RFIs, site queries and red-line markups
• Prepare safe work method statements and inspection and test plans
• Partner with clients, consultants and construction teams in design reviews

Qualification and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (essential)
• Electrical design experience in infrastructure or utilities
• Knowledge of electrical standards such as AS/NZS 3000 and AS 2067
• Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD or Revit
• Clear communication and strong teamwork across disciplines
