Job summary

Asahi Beverages in Melbourne seeks an experienced Capital Projects Engineer to own the full lifecycle of capital projects from scoping to commissioning and handover, drawing on GMP, SOP and QEHS principles.

You will lead front-end planning, manage scope, schedule and budget, and coordinate with operations, quality, safety and procurement to ensure safe, compliant, on-time project delivery across a diverse portfolio.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of FMCG manufacturing operations including GMP and SOP within project environments.
• Sound engineering judgement to assess technical options and support decisions.
• Ability to work across engineering, operations, quality, safety and contractor groups.
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, HACCP principles and ISO standards.

• Ensure compliance with safety management plans, permitting, QEHS obligations and regulations through active oversight.
• Provide engineering expertise through design reviews, HAZOP studies, risk assessments and procurement support.

YOUR IMPACT

Shape the delivery of capital engineering projects that strengthen Supply Chain operations and support Asahi's return on invested capital goals. Your day moves between project planning, technical decision-making, contractor engagement, safety oversight and commissioning activities, ensuring projects are delivered to scope, budget and timeline requirements. Acting as a technical subject matter expert in your engineering discipline, you will help drive the right engineering outcomes while supporting larger capital projects across the broader team. From concept through to handover, your work ensures safe, compliant and operationally successful project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of assigned capital projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, commissioning and handover to achieve agreed project outcomes.
• Develop front-end planning outputs including conceptual designs, project scopes, timelines and budgets, while supporting planning activities on larger and more complex projects.
• Implement project governance requirements through change control, status reporting, financial tracking, start-up processes and post-project implementation reviews.
• Ensure compliance with safety management plans, permitting requirements, QEHS obligations and relevant regulations through active oversight, observation and contractor auditing.
• Provide engineering expertise through design reviews, HAZOP studies, Safety in Design risk assessments, technical specification development and procurement support to optimise project outcomes.

• You apply sound engineering judgement and confidently assess technical options to support effective project decisions and technical problem solving.
