Job summary

6Points is leading a major transport infrastructure project across South East Queensland, seeking a Project Engineer - Ballast to oversee ballast supply, logistics, placement, profiling and acceptance across track works. You will guide engineering and package control, ensuring accurate ballast depth, alignment and interfaces, while monitoring production and material conformance on site.

Australian experience is required, with relocation packages on offer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, construction or railway engineering.
• 5-8 years of contractor delivery experience including track formation and earthworks.
• Current construction induction card and valid driver's licence.
• Ability to obtain project-specific rail, site and medical competencies.
• Contractor-side experience with work packs, RFIs, ITPs, subcontractor coordination and progress measurement.

Responsibilities

• Plan ballast sourcing, testing, delivery, stockpiling, handling and placement to meet the track sequence.
• Verify formation, drainage, capping and access readiness before ballast placement.
• Coordinate survey and tolerance control for ballast depth, profile, alignment and interfaces.
• Monitor production rates, material reconciliation, haulage performance and contamination controls.
• Compile lot-based inspection, test, survey and material-conformance records for acceptance.

A major transport infrastructure project (valued at more than $1 billion) is underway across South East Queensland, delivering complex rail, station and civil works. Having won numerous major projects in Queensland in the past 12 months, the head contractor is seeking a Project Engineer - Ballast to lead engineering and package control for ballast supply, logistics, placement, profiling and acceptance across track works.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan ballast sourcing, testing, delivery, stockpiling, handling and placement to meet the track sequence
• Verify formation, drainage, capping and access readiness before ballast placement
• Coordinate survey and tolerance control for ballast depth, profile, alignment and interfaces
• Monitor production rates, material reconciliation, haulage performance and contamination controls
• Compile lot-based inspection, test, survey and material-conformance records for acceptance

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in civil, construction or railway engineering
• 5-8 years' contractor delivery experience including track formation, earthworks, quarry materials or rail infrastructure
• Current construction induction card and valid driver's licence
• Ability to obtain project-specific rail, site and medical competencies
• Contractor-side experience with work packs, RFIs, ITPs, subcontractor coordination and progress measurement
