Job summary

Wood is seeking a Project Engineer based in Gladstone to support brownfields scope for a major client in the oil and gas sector. You will coordinate multi‑discipline engineering and procurement activities to deliver safe and cost‑effective projects.

The role requires experience in oil and gas or mining, with the ability to manage several projects and lead multidisciplinary teams, while engaging directly with clients and contractors to mitigate risk and track KPIs.

  • Project engineering experience with mechanical or electrical background.
  • Experience in oil & gas, or mining, metals sectors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multi‑discipline engineering and procurement activities to deliver safe, cost‑effective projects.
  • Align projects with basis of design, regulatory and code requirements.
  • Review technical data across teams and engage with clients for successful delivery.
  • Support schedule and cost control across project delivery.
  • Coordinate work through remote teams and attend client/contractor meetings.
  • Report progress and KPIs and identify risks with mitigation strategies.

This position will be for a permanent role supporting one of our major clients. Reporting to the Delivery lead, the ideal candidate would play a key role to manage the brownfields scope of work on oil and gas facility. Experience with management of fast‑tracked project delivery and working with previous oil and gas service providers would be preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and coordinating multi‑discipline engineering and procurement activities to support safe, efficient, cost‑effective and timely project delivery.
  • Helping ensure projects align with the client’s approved basis of design, as well as relevant regulatory and code requirements.
  • Coordinating the review of technical data across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Engaging directly with clients to support successful project delivery and build strong working relationships.
  • Supporting schedule and cost control across project delivery.
  • Coordinating multi‑discipline engineering work through remote teams.
  • Attending meetings with client, implementation contractors and suppliers.
  • Reporting on project progress and KPIs.
  • Identifying key areas of risk for the project and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
  • Project Engineering experience with a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.
  • Experience in oil and gas, or mining, metals sectors.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at various stages of engineering.
  • Experience managing or supporting multidisciplinary teams.
  • Confidence building and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • A practical, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to adapt in a dynamic project environment.
