Job summary

Purina in Blayney, NSW is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the design, implementation and startup phases of capital investment projects on the manufacturing site. You will ensure alignment with Nestlé standards and the project charter.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate engineers, contractors and cross-functional teams, uphold safety, cost and schedule targets, and support smooth handover to operations after qualification.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or advanced trade qualifications.
  • 5+ years Industrial Project Management experience, preferably in FMCG industry.
  • Personnel supervision of technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties.
  • Delivery of engineering capital projects as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the basic and detailed design of the project per Nestlé standards.
  • Ensure safety for operators and workers during operation and installation.
  • Ensure engineering work meets timing, cost and quality targets.
  • Select and coordinate contractors and ensure Nestlé standards are applied.
  • Support the End-to-End Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager.
  • Assist startup team to ensure a smooth transition to operations.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Project Engineer to join the Engineering team in our Blayney Factory. This role will Manage and/or perform the design, implementation and start-up phases of capital investment projects on the manufacturing site, within the defined scope of responsibility or specialisation. Ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications and Nestlé standards are implemented and adhered to.

A day in the life…

Reporting to the Project Manager, key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics

Consider the safety of both the operators and workers during operation and installation respectively.

Ensure that the engineering side of the project is implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment erections, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality.

Select and qualify contractors and coordinate their activities. Ensure that Nestlé standards are applied.

Support the End-to-End Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager in developing the investment project charter and ensure that it is strictly followed throughout the project.

Support the start-up manager and their team to ensure a smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.

Engineering degree or advanced trade qualifications.

5+ years Industrial Project Management experience, preferably in FMCG industry.

Personnel Supervision of technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties.

Participation in the development and delivery of engineering capital projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (including Production, Quality, Logistics, Safety and Finance).

Participation in the start-up of technical equipment and/or production lines.

Self-Management following defined KPIs/Objectives and proactively tracking them.

Exposure to TPM, Preventive Maintenance planning and/or maintenance execution.

Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality.
