Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified engineering professional with extensive experience delivering major infrastructure projects valued at $10M+.
  • Proven Project Engineer with strong site-based construction experience across complex civil and rail environments.
  • Strong expertise in project planning, programming, cost control, risk management, and commercial delivery.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, design, and contractual management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to achieve programme, budget, and performance targets.
  • Highly effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement, leadership, and project reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the safe and successful delivery of civil and rail construction works.
  • Champion a strong safety culture through proactive risk management, environmental compliance, and quality assurance practices.
  • Drive construction progress by coordinating site activities and ensuring alignment with milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Support cost control, forecasting, and budget management to maximise project performance and commercial outcomes.
  • Lead and manage subcontractors to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and workmanship.
  • Interpret complex engineering designs and specifications to facilitate efficient delivery.
  • Coordinate procurement and tender activities, ensuring timely engagement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure full compliance with contractual, legislative, and project requirements while maintaining documentation.

About the Project:

John Holland is delivering the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade (B2N) on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. This major rail infrastructure program is designed to increase capacity, improve reliability and support the region’s long-term growth.


This complex, multi‑disciplinary project includes significant signalling, rail systems and interface works delivered in a live rail environment, requiring close collaboration with Queensland Rail, designers, certifiers and delivery partners.


Based at Beerburrum project site, this project offers exposure to a large-scale rail upgrade and the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact transport solution while developing your career within a Tier 1 environment


About The Role:

We have an opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to join our team based in Beerburrum, the role is responsible for coordinating and delivering civil and rail construction activities on the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade Project, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and contractual requirements. You will need effective stakeholder engagement, reporting, and commercial awareness to support the successful delivery of this major rail infrastructure project.


What we are looking for:


  • Degree-qualified engineering professional with extensive experience delivering major infrastructure projects valued at $10M+.

  • Proven Project Engineer with strong site-based construction experience across complex civil and rail environments.

  • Strong expertise in project planning, programming, cost control, risk management, and commercial delivery.

  • Thorough knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, design, and contractual management principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to achieve programme, budget, and performance targets.

  • Ensure full compliance with contractual, legislative, and project requirements while maintaining accurate reporting and project documentation.
