Job summary

Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major mining and minerals project in South Australia, with the role based in Adelaide or surrounding areas. You will coordinate engineering and construction delivery for SMP scopes, working closely with the Lead Project Engineer and project team, and undertaking regular site travel on a 2:1 roster.

You’ll bring proven project engineering experience in mining or major projects, with strong planning, cost control

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Engineer within mining, minerals processing, oil & gas or major construction projects.
• Experience delivering SMP scopes on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling and progress reporting.
• Commercial awareness with cost control and change management experience.
• Excellent communication and practical delivery approach.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering and construction delivery of SMP work fronts to meet schedules and safety standards.
• Assist with construction methodologies, work packs, sequencing and short-term planning.
• Coordinate engineering, materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
• Collaborate with supervisors to resolve technical issues and remove constraints.
• Support project controls including progress tracking, forecasting and cost management.
• Build relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders while ensuring compliance.

Job description

Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering Construction division, supporting the delivery of a major mining and minerals project in South Australia. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large-scale project team delivering multidisciplinary construction works, with a strong focus on Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) scopes.

Based in Adelaide or surrounding areas, you will work closely with the Lead Project Engineer, Project Manager, construction supervisors and wider project team to coordinate the engineering and construction delivery of assigned work fronts. The position will involve regular site travel and work on a 2:1 roster as the project progresses.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, this is an excellent opportunity to build your project delivery experience with a growing business delivering complex works for tier 1 clients across the resources sector.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Support the engineering and construction delivery of assigned SMP work fronts, ensuring activities are planned, coordinated and executed safely and efficiently
• Assist with construction methodologies, work packs, sequencing and short-term planning to support project execution
• Coordinate engineering, materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor requirements to maintain progress against project schedules and milestones
• Work closely with supervisors and construction teams to resolve technical issues, remove constraints and support delivery
• Support project controls and commercial activities including progress tracking, cost control, forecasting, variations and change management
• Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, technical and project requirements

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience as a Project Engineer within mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, energy or major construction projects
• Experience delivering or supporting SMP scopes on large-scale construction projects
• Good understanding of construction planning, methodologies, work pack development, sequencing, scheduling and progress reporting
• Commercial awareness, including experience supporting cost control, forecasting, subcontractor management and change management
• Strong technical, problem-solving and communication skills, with a practical approach to construction delivery
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or related Engineering discipline, with knowledge of Australian standards and construction practices
• BHP project or operational experience will be highly regarded; Adelaide or surrounding area based candidates preferred, with the ability to work a 2:1 roster
