Job summary

Pacific Energy Ltd in Australia seeks an experienced Project Director to lead development and delivery of a large-scale traditional and renewable power facility for a Tier 1 mining client. The role runs over more than three years, from development through to handover.

You will oversee contracting strategy, procurement, system integration and commercial alignment while driving safe, profitable and on-time outcomes and engaging stakeholders across internal teams and partners.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering large-scale projects in power generation, mining, construction or heavy industry.
  • Engineering or Trade qualification with PMP/CPPM or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven track record leading high-value projects with complex scopes, multiple contractors and significant commercial risk.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting and contract management.
  • Expertise in project governance, risk management and structured delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills with ability to influence outcomes.
  • Collaborative, people-focused leader developing high-performing teams and driving change.

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, resources and milestone delivery.
  • Drive project governance, risk management, quality assurance and HSE compliance.
  • Manage commercial and contractual obligations to minimise business risk and optimise outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary project teams, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee project completion, commissioning and handover to operations or client.

Lead Major Energy Projects That Power Remote Australia

Pacific Energy is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the development and delivery of a large-scale traditional and renewable power generation facility for a Tier 1 mining customer. Spanning more than three years, this flagship project will take you from final development and investment approval through to construction, commissioning and operational handover.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, external advisors and delivery partners, you will oversee contracting strategy, procurement, power system integration and commercial alignment to ensure successful project delivery.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving safe, profitable and on-time outcomes while managing commercial, technical and stakeholder requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the safe delivery of major, high-risk energy infrastructure projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved to scope, budget and schedule.

  • Oversea project completion, commissioning and successful handover to Operations and / or the client.
About You
  • Extensive experience successfully delivering large-scale, complex projects within power generation, mining, construction or heavy industry.
  • Engineering or Trade qualification, with PMP, CPPM or equivalent Project Management certification preferred.
  • Proven track record leading high-value projects with complex technical scopes, multiple contractors and significant commercial risk.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and contract management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project governance, risk management and structured project delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build lasting client relationships.
  • A collaborative and people-focused leader with a proven ability to develop high-performing teams, drive change and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
