Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking an experienced Cost Control Officer to join the Finance team in Thornton, Australia. This permanent, full-time role focuses on tracking project costs, maintaining accurate job costing records, and providing timely reporting to keep projects on budget.

You will collaborate with Finance and Project teams, using Excel and SimPRO, to monitor budgets, analyse cost variations and support billing and month-end activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost control, job costing, project finance or a similar role.
• A sound understanding of project budgets, cost tracking and financial reporting.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with SimPRO is highly regarded.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to work closely with project managers and investigate cost discrepancies.
• Experience in mining, construction or engineering will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Tracking and reporting project costs against budgets, including labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors.
• Maintaining accurate job costing records in SimPRO.
• Reviewing cost allocations and investigating discrepancies.
• Monitoring purchase orders, supplier invoices and committed costs.
• Identifying cost variations and potential budget overruns.
• Supporting project managers with cost reports, forecasts and financial information.
• Assisting with project billing, month-end reporting and project close-out reconciliations.
• Supporting the Finance team with general administration as required.
