Job summary

The University of Wollongong, located at the Wollongong Campus, is seeking a Project Coordinator to manage refurbishment, renewal and capital works projects across its diverse property portfolio.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you will guide projects from concept to construction, ensuring safety, timeliness and budget alignment while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction management, asset management or related discipline.
  • Experience delivering refurbishment, construction, infrastructure or capital works projects.
  • Proven project management capability including procurement and budget oversight.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination and delivery of refurbishment and capital works projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop project briefs, scopes and budget estimates to support asset replacement and capital management programs.
  • Procure, engage and manage consultants, contractors and specialist service providers to achieve project outcomes.
  • Manage project governance, risk, contract administration, reporting, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

About the Role

The Project Coordinator plays a key role in delivering refurbishment, renewal and capital works projects across the University’s diverse property portfolio. Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you will manage projects through the full lifecycle, from concept development and design through to construction completion and defects liability, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and aligned with University objectives. This is an opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of UOW’s teaching, research and community spaces while working with a broad range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of refurbishment and capital works projects from inception to completion.

  • Develop project briefs, scopes and budget estimates that support the University’s asset replacement and capital management programs.

  • Procure, engage and manage consultants, contractors and specialist service providers to achieve project outcomes.

  • Manage project governance, risk, contract administration, reporting, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

About the Team

The Infrastructure and Property Division is responsible for the planning, development, maintenance and enhancement of the University’s built environment and grounds. The team delivers a diverse portfolio of projects, including major refurbishments, asset renewals, functional upgrades and strategic infrastructure initiatives that support teaching, research and student experience outcomes. Working collaboratively across the University, the Division is committed to providing safe, sustainable and high-quality facilities for our community.

What You’ll Bring
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction management, asset management, project management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering refurbishment, construction, infrastructure or capital works projects in complex stakeholder environments.

  • Proven project management capability, including procurement, consultant and contractor management, contract administration and budget oversight.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse groups.

  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to delivering safe project outcomes.

Role Details
  • Employment type: Fixed Term, Full-time appointment (2 years)

  • Level 6/7: $96,898 - $119,986 plus 17% superannuation. Salary commensurate with skills, experience and capability.

  • Location: Wollongong Campus.

  • Valid Australian work rights required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

  • A current Australian Driver Licence is required.
