Job summary

DFP Recruitment is seeking a Program Manager to lead major land development and infrastructure projects in Canberra, ACT. You will oversee end-to-end delivery, ensuring safety, timeliness and compliance with contract and governance requirements.

Reporting to a senior executive, you will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage budgets and risks, engage stakeholders across government, industry and community, and provide strategic briefings to executives.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering complex construction, infrastructure or land development projects.
  • Strong program management across planning, procurement, construction and handover.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with contracts, procurement and governance.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement across government, industry and executives.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.

Program Manager – Major Development Projects Canberra, ACT | Executive Leadership Opportunity

Are you an experienced project leader with a passion for delivering complex infrastructure and urban development projects? We are seeking a highly capable Program Manager to lead the successful delivery of major land development initiatives that will help shape the future of one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

About the Role

Reporting to a senior executive, you will oversee a portfolio of complex greenfield and urban development projects, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, commercial and governance requirements. You will provide strategic leadership across multiple projects while managing competing priorities, influencing key stakeholders and driving high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex development projects from sales through to completion.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and performance to ensure successful delivery.
  • Oversee contractual obligations, governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, contractors, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide high-quality reporting and strategic advice to senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, consultants and contractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best-practice project delivery.
  • Ensure projects deliver strong commercial, environmental and community outcomes.
About You

You are a strategic and commercially astute program leader with extensive experience managing major infrastructure, land development or urban renewal projects.

You will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience delivering complex construction, infrastructure or land development projects.
  • Strong project and program management capability across planning, procurement, construction and handover.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with experience managing contracts, procurement and project governance.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across government, industry and executive levels.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to prepare high-quality reports and executive briefings.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Essential Requirements: should possess significant experience in project or program management and qualifications in a relevant discipline such as:
  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Project Management

Equivalent industry experience will also be considered where supported by extensive project delivery expertise.

  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Asbestos Awareness Card
  • Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention Card
