Job summary

The ACT Government invites applications for a Senior Development Director to join the Place Delivery Group in Canberra on a 12-month contract, with a possible 12-month extension. You will lead end-to-end delivery of complex land development projects, from sales through to site settlement, with autonomy across multiple projects and teams.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification accredited by Engineers Australia/Professionals Australia with 10+ years of experience.
• Architecture qualification accredited by an Australian state/territory architecture authority with 10+ years of experience.
• Diploma in Project Management or CPPD/CPPE with 10+ years of project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing full project lifecycles from sales through to delivery completion, with reporting to Executive, Board and Government stakeholders.
• Planning and managing timelines, budgets, milestones and resources against KPIs.
• Leading delivery of complex greenfield and urban development projects aligned to Government objectives and community expectations.
• Coordinating feasibility, design development, approvals, procurement, construction and handover.
• Building and maintaining relationships with buyers, developers, contractors, government agencies and utility providers.
• Managing procurement and contract administration in line with Territory requirements, and maintaining active project risk registers.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams — staff, consultants and contractors — and contributing to workforce planning and capability development.

We're now looking for a Senior Development Director to join the Place Delivery Group - the operational engine room translating planning vision into delivered communities across Urban Development, Greenfield Development, the Molonglo Town Centre Program, Commercial Ventures and Infrastructure Services.

About the role

You'll lead the end-to-end delivery of complex land development projects - from sales through to site settlement and delivery completion - operating with a high degree of autonomy across multiple projects and teams. You'll be the technical, commercial and stakeholder lead ensuring every project meets its Delivery Deed, Territory and SLA obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

About you

You’ll bring strong project delivery experience in land development, infrastructure or construction, along with recognised qualifications and/or experience in one of the following:

• Engineering — 4-year (or higher) qualification accredited by Engineers Australia/Professionals Australia, plus 10+ years' relevant experience, or
• Architecture — 3-year (or higher) qualification accredited by an Australian state/territory architecture authority, plus 10+ years' relevant experience, or
• Project Management — a Diploma in Project Management plus 10+ years' experience, or CPPD/CPPE certification plus a relevant degree and 10+ years' experience, or 10+ years' relevant project management experience on its own

You’ll also need to hold (or be able to obtain) a General Construction Induction Card (White Card), Asbestos Awareness Card, and Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention Card.

You’re a confident communicator who builds trust with stakeholders across government, industry and community, someone who takes personal ownership of outcomes, and a natural collaborator who can bring multidisciplinary teams together to solve problems and keep delivery on track.
