Job description

Program Director - TMS Transformation Program
We’re changing the way Strait Link moves.

Strait Link is Tasmania's vital link across the Bass Strait — our vessels, trucks and terminals connect the state to the mainland and global markets, moving the freight Tasmania relies on.

We're now replacing the Transport Management System (TMS) that underpins this operation. It's a business-critical program, and we need a Program Director with genuine, demonstrated experience delivering a transformation at this scale.

We need a Program Director with demonstrated experience leading a transformation of this scale and the capability to take it through to go-live.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Technology, you’ll lead Strait Link’s TMS Transformation Program, taking a portfolio of technology and business transformation projects from strategy through to implementation. You’ll work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board throughout.

You’ll drive the organisational change, bringing technology, people, processes and operations together while keeping vendors accountable, stakeholders aligned and the business ready for what is changing.

This program needs someone who can set a clear ambition, get into the detail when it matters and deliver the plan.

Your work will include:

  • Lead the transformation: Own delivery from planning and design through to go-live.
  • Keep it moving: Establish governance, milestones and accountabilities.
  • Own the partnerships: Manage vendor selection, implementation and performance.
  • Own the numbers: Control the budget and track costs and benefits.
  • Bring people along: Lead communication, readiness and adoption.
  • Connect with the business: Work across frontline, Executive and Board stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead: Manage risks, dependencies and resources before they affect delivery.
What Will Help You Succeed

You’ve led a major technology transformation or system replacement before. You know where these programs can come unstuck and when a problem needs your direct attention.

You can hold vendors accountable, give senior leaders a clear view of progress and listen to the people who will use the system. You’re comfortable setting the direction and working through the detail needed to deliver it.

You’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated success delivering major IT transformation or system replacement programs end-to-end.
  • Strong program governance, budgeting, and delivery management experience.
  • Experience leading complex organisational change initiatives.
  • Proven capability managing data migration, testing, and cutover activities.

Experience in freight, logistics, transport or shipping will be highly regarded, but it is not essential. Exposure to TMS, ERP, CRM, digital or mobility platforms would also be valuable. Program qualifications such as PMP, MSP, PRINCE2 or Agile may complement your experience, but your record of delivery will matter most.
