Job summary

Prestage in Australia’s Camden region seeks a Production Process Operator to maintain and service manufacturing processes for safe, efficient poultry production. You will inspect, hang, cut, trim, and inspect bird parts and ensure smooth product flow.

You’ll work day shifts with flexible start times, complying with GMP, safety and USDA-like guidelines, and collaborate with leads and supervisors to meet production targets while upholding food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience or knowledge in food processing or poultry is preferred but not required.
• Solid understanding of food safety compliance is essential.
• Detail oriented, self-directed, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates and maintains product flow for equipment and conveying systems, including hanging whole or bird parts.
• Uses knives and scissors to prepare poultry parts for further processing.
• Completes ongoing housekeeping to meet food safety standards.
• Maintains a safety-first mindset above other department metrics.
• Works within GMP, Safety, and USDA guidelines to ensure top quality in a safe environment.

Job description

General

The production process operator is responsible for maintaining and servicing the manufacturing processes to ensure a top-quality product is safely and efficiently delivered to internal /external customers. Responsibilities include inspection, positioning, and placement of whole or parts of large birds. Hanging, cutting, trimming, and inspecting parts of birds. The position reports to the process supervisor w/ primary work schedule of day shift , Mon. - Thurs. 7am - 5:30pm OR Tues. - Fri., 5am - 3:30pm, with flexibility to work early/ late shift, short notice overtime, and weekends, as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities

• Responsible for safely operating and maintaining product flow for various equipment and conveying systems including hanging whole or bird parts, cutting, trimming, loading and unloading parts of birds.
• Safely uses tools, e.g. knives & scissors to prepare poultry parts for further processing
• Completes on-going housekeeping to meet food safety standards
• Operates with a safety-first mindset above all other department metrics
• Works within GMP, Safety, and USDA guidelines to achieve top quality in a safe work environment
• Willingly learns new skills, cross trains others, and works to improve process flow

Education

• High school diploma or GED (Min.);

Experience

• Working knowledge / experience in food processing or related field (Poultry processing - preferred / not required)

• Working knowledge in poultry or other food processing industry

Physical Requirements

• Lift / move up to 40 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 10 hrs./shift performing repetitive motion
• Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment w/ a distinct odor & varying temperatures (e.g., 35-40 / 100 degrees)
• Exercise strong hand-eye coordination in handling whole & parts of birds and sharp hand-tools
