Job summary

The Union Dairy Company in Penola, SA seeks a Production Operator to operate and monitor dairy processing lines across milk powder packing, palletising, evaporator, spray dryer, and related processes.

You will follow SOPs, ensure food safety and quality, and work 12-hour shifts in a physically demanding role, with forklift operations and manual handling.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence is required and a valid Australian driver's licence.
• Experience in dairy or food manufacturing is desirable.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete production records accurately.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to follow instructions.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg, with stamina for 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment across relevant processes.
• Perform routine quality checks and maintain production records.
• Operate forklifts and move materials as licensed.
• Follow SOPs, safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Monitor processes, report issues to the Production Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with changeovers.
• Collaborate with the team and participate in handovers and training.

The Union Dairy Company has an annual processing capacity of 300 million liters of raw milk and began production in 2017. Located in Penola, South Australia - the purpose-built plant provides a state-of-the-art factory and is the newest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

We are currently seeking multiple suitably experienced applicants for the roles of Production Operator located in Penola, SA.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and monitor production equipment across milk powder packing, palletising, evaporator, spray dryer, wet processing and AMF operations, as trained and required
• Ensure products meet food safety, quality and packaging standards by completing routine quality checks, sampling, monitoring and production records
• Operate forklifts and warehouse systems to move raw materials, packaging and finished products, where licensed and authorised
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety requirements and hygiene standards at all times
• Monitor equipment and production processes, identify issues or defects, and report problems to the Production Supervisor
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic work environment and complete cleaning and changeover activities
• Work collaboratively with the production team, communicate effectively during shift handovers, and participate in training and continuous improvement activities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

• Current forklift licence and Australian driver's licence
• Previous experience in dairy or food manufacturing is desirable
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete production and quality records accurately
• Good mechanical aptitude, with the ability to follow instructions and troubleshoot basic production issues
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg, perform manual handling tasks and stand for extended periods during 12-hour shifts
