Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking hands-on Production Operators for its Transformer workshop in Tomago. The role involves hands-on manufacturing, coil winding, core cutting and assembly of transformers up to 80MVA. You will work in a safety-conscious team environment and learn advanced manufacturing processes.

Applicants should have a strong safety mindset, team focus, and willingness to learn new skills. A current driver licence is essential, with forklift/dogging/rigging licences desirable.

Job description

We are looking for motivated Production Operators to join our Transformers workshop in Tomago.

Ampcontrol’s modern Transformer manufacturing facility specialises in the design, manufacture, overhaul and repair of custom-built power transformers, delivering engineered solutions for a wide range of applications.

Our team manufactures transformers up to 80MVA at 132kV and can overhaul and repair units weighing up to 80 tonnes. As part of the team, you’ll gain exposure to specialised manufacturing processes including coil winding, core cutting and laying, tanking and general assembly across both oil-filled and dry-type transformers.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to develop new skills and is looking to build a career in advanced manufacturing.

ROSTERED HOURS OPTIONS

Both afternoon and day shifts available. Afternoon shifts attract a 20% allowance.

Day shift: 9 day fortnight, 5:30am-14:20pm

Afternoon shift: 4 day week 14:10pm to midnight Monday to Thursday

What We're Looking For

We're looking for hands-on, motivated people who take pride in their work and want to become an important part of our transformer manufacturing and overhaul team.

You’ll ideally have:

• A strong commitment to safety and quality
• A cooperative, flexible and team-focused approach
• Manufacturing, assembly or workshop experience — transformer experience is desirable but not essential
• A willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges
• A mechanical mindset with confidence using hand and power tools
• A current Driver Licence (essential)
• Forklift and/or Dogging/Rigging licences (desirable)
• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, particularly in electrical or mechanical equipment manufacturing, would be advantageous
