Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking motivated Production Operators to join our Transformers workshop in Tomago. You will participate in hands-on manufacturing, assembly and overhaul work, gaining exposure to coil winding, core cutting, laying, tanking and general assembly across oil-filled and dry-type transformers.

Ideal candidates have a safety-first mindset, are flexible, team-oriented and eager to learn new skills in advanced manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing, assembly or workshop experience preferred.
• Current Driver Licence is essential.
• Forklift licence or licence eligibility desirable.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment in transformer workshop.
• Assist with coil winding, core cutting, laying, tanking and assembly.
• Maintain safety and quality standards.
• Support teamwork and continuous improvement.

Job description

The Opportunity

We are looking for motivated Production Operators to join our Transformers workshop in Tomago.

Ampcontrol’s modern Transformer manufacturing facility specialises in the design, manufacture, overhaul and repair of custom-built power transformers, delivering engineered solutions for a wide range of applications.

Our team manufactures transformers up to 80MVA at 132kV and can overhaul and repair units weighing up to 80 tonnes. As part of the team, you’ll gain exposure to specialised manufacturing processes including coil winding, core cutting and laying, tanking and general assembly across both oil-filled and dry-type transformers.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for hands‑on, motivated people who take pride in their work and want to become an important part of our transformer manufacturing and overhaul team.

You’ll ideally have:

• A strong commitment to safety and quality
• A cooperative, flexible and team‑focused approach
• Manufacturing, assembly or workshop experience — transformer experience is desirable but not essential
• A willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges
• A mechanical mindset with confidence using hand and power tools
• A current Driver Licence (essential)
• Forklift and/or Dogging/Rigging licences (desirable)
• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, particularly in electrical or mechanical equipment manufacturing, would be advantageous
