Murray Valley Organics is seeking a Permanent, full-time horticultural production role in Victoria. The job involves practical implementation of production programs, land preparation, irrigation, pest control and harvesting, with emphasis on SOP adherence and worker training.

You will operate tractors, manage irrigation systems, coordinate crop activities and maintain records for organic certification audits while reporting to the Farm Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV or equivalent required.
• 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant training or 5 years with no formal training.
• Experience supervising staff and ensuring SOP compliance.

Responsabilités

• Oversee land preparation and ensure procedures are followed.
• Train and monitor operators to meet SOPs.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production work programs.
• Identify and report pest or disease signs promptly.
• Operate tractors and irrigation systems and manage staffing on site.
• Maintain machinery and equipment used in production.
• Record harvest and planting data for organic audits.
• Coordinate harvests and supervise up to six staff.

Job Description

About the Position This position supports the practical implementation of horticultural production programs, including land preparation, operating programs, production inputs, machinery use, irrigation, crop protection and harvesting activities. Occupation Tasks

• Ensure all land preparations are completed in accordance with established procedures.
• Train and monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are completed in line with standard operating procedures.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work programs to facilitate implementation of required production tasks.
• Assess the quality of work and take corrective action where applicable.
• Ensure all material inputs are adequate for the relevant operations.
• Ensure the upkeep of tractors and implements used in production operations.
• Liaise with the Farm Operations Manager, Agronomist and Maintenance Manager where required.
• Operate tractors and implements required for horticultural production.
• Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs.
• Operate pressurised irrigation systems.
• Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases in accordance with approved procedures.
• Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting.
• Fumigate soil where required and authorised.
• Manage and install drainage systems.
• Monitor and manage nursery plants.
• Operate spreading and seeding equipment.
• Hand planting seeds (crop specific)
• Machine planting seed/transplants (crop specific)
• Operate harvesting tractor and over-see 6 staff
• Installation of drip Irrigation
• Removal of drip Irrigation

Skills, Experience, Qualifications

• Relevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications or
• Equivalent; or 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training; or
• 5 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training.

Market Salary $75,000- $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
