Job description

Role – Product Manager
Location - Australia | Permanent or contract opportunity
Role Highlights – Shape the API and data capabilities behind a major global technology transformation. Bring your product leadership and technical insight to a role with enterprise-wide influence across multiple regions, brands and digital channels.
Role Overview

Join a major global organisation investing in enterprise technology transformation. Reporting to the Program Manager, you’ll own the vision, roadmap and backlog for API and data management capabilities—treating APIs and data as products that deliver value to their consumers.

Based in Australia, this opportunity could be offered as a permanent role or a contract position. You’ll partner with architecture, engineering, data and analytics, digital teams and external technology partners. This is a Product Manager / Product Owner role—not a hands-on developer or data engineer position.

Responsibilities
  • API products: Set the strategy, roadmap and backlog, with clear service levels, versioning and lifecycle standards.
  • Adoption and reuse: Improve consumer experience and external partner onboarding, building reusable integration patterns that reduce point-to-point connections.
  • API delivery: Lead product ownership for MuleSoft delivery and partner with technical teams on REST, OpenAPI, security and event-driven integration standards.
  • Trusted data: Own the canonical data model across key enterprise domains and establish master/reference data, quality, ownership and stewardship standards.
  • Data products and reporting: Prioritise ingestion, curated data products and self-service reporting, reducing duplication and establishing trusted business metrics.
  • Governance and outcomes: Embed privacy, security, consent and data residency requirements; manage epics, acceptance criteria and sprint reviews; track adoption, progress, risks and business benefits.
Candidate Profile

You combine commercial product thinking with strong API, integration and data knowledge. You’re comfortable turning complex enterprise needs into clear priorities and bringing technical and business stakeholders with you.

8+ years’ experience across product management, integration, data management or enterprise technology delivery, including 4+ years as a Product Manager or Product Owner for APIs, integration platforms or data products.

  • Experience delivering an enterprise API program or reusable API library, with an API-as-a-product mindset and a focus on consumer experience and adoption.
  • Strong understanding of REST, OpenAPI, event-driven integration, OAuth 2.0, API gateways and MuleSoft Anypoint or comparable integration platforms.
  • Exposure to canonical/domain data modelling, master and reference data, data quality, lineage and stewardship.
  • Confident agile product ownership, backlog management and stakeholder communication within complex enterprise transformation environments.
Experience that will help you stand out

AWS; Snowflake, Databricks or comparable cloud data platforms; Power BI or Tableau; external partner API onboarding; developer portals and API certification. MuleSoft, SAFe, CSPO or PSPO certifications are also highly regarded.

Company Culture
  • Make your mark on capabilities used across a global organisation. You’ll work alongside experienced architecture, engineering, data and business leaders, with genuine ownership of product direction and priorities.
  • Enterprise-wide impact: Shape API and data strategy across regions, brands and digital channels.
  • Modern technology: Work across MuleSoft, AWS, APIs and modern data platforms.
  • Strategic influence: Help guide technology standards, platform decisions and measurable product outcomes.
  • Employment options: This Australia-based opportunity could be a permanent role or a contract position.
