Job summary

Freyssinet Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to support growth of our bridge products across Australia and New Zealand, reporting within the Civil Business Unit. The role covers business development, tendering, estimating, contract management and project delivery on major infrastructure projects.

Based in Sydney with occasional travel, you will collaborate with local and international manufacturing facilities, provide technical advice, and manage tenders and projects

Qualifications

• This role requires a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering and a minimum of 5 years in engineering, estimating, tendering or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of bridge products such as bearings, expansion joints, post-tensioning systems and stay cables is essential.
• Demonstrated commercial, analytical and problem solving abilities with excellent stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Identify tender opportunities and engage clients, consultants and procurement teams to win business.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and develop competitive technical and commercial proposals.
• Review contracts with legal/commercial stakeholders and support negotiations.
• Coordinate supply chain, manufacturing and logistics from award to completion.
• Provide specialist technical support during tendering and project delivery.

About The Role

Freyssinet is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to support the growth of our specialist bridge products business across Australia and New Zealand. This is a unique opportunity for an engineering professional with strong technical and commercial capabilities to contribute to major infrastructure projects while working with industry-leading bridge technologies, including bearings, expansion joints, post-tensioning systems, stay cables, and other specialist products. Reporting within our Civil Business Unit, you will play a key role in business development, tendering, estimating, contract management, and project delivery, ensuring successful outcomes for both our clients and the business.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Tender Identification

• Identify upcoming infrastructure and bridge projects where Freyssinet products can be specified and supplied.
• Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and procurement teams to secure tender opportunities.
• Support market development initiatives and drive product sales growth.

Estimating & Proposal Preparation

• Prepare accurate cost estimates using internal costing tools, historical data, and collaboration with local and international manufacturing facilities.
• Develop competitive technical and commercial proposals aligned with client requirements.
• Maintain and enhance product cost libraries to support forecasting, budgeting, and tender submissions.
• Ensure quotations and proposals are technically compliant and commercially sound.

Contract Review & Commercial Management

• Review supply contracts in collaboration with legal and commercial stakeholders.
• Support contract negotiations and execution.
• Ensure contractual obligations, risks, and deliverables are clearly understood and managed.

Project Delivery & Supply Chain Coordination

• Manage supply-only product projects from award through to completion.
• Coordinate manufacturing, suppliers, logistics, and delivery activities.
• Monitor project performance, margins, schedules, and risks.
• Support invoicing, financial reporting, and project close-out activities.

Technical Support & Product Expertise

• Provide specialist product advice and technical support during tendering and project delivery phases.
• Liaise with local and international technical teams to obtain engineering and product support.
• Assist project teams with procurement, fabrication, and product delivery requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of bridge products, manufacturing capabilities, and relevant industry standards.

About You

• A degree qualification in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering, estimating, tendering, or technical sales.
• Strong knowledge of bridge products, particularly:
• Mechanical bearings
• Expansion joints
• Post-tensioning systems
• Stay cable systems
• Other specialist bridge or infrastructure products
• Experience within bridge construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.

Highly Regarded

• Previous experience with Freyssinet products.
• Experience in a Product Engineer, Estimator, Tendering Engineer, Technical Sales, or similar role.
• Previous experience within the Freyssinet Group or a comparable specialist infrastructure organisation.
