Job summary

The First Peoples Self-Determination Procurement Lead will champion and embed Aboriginal self-determination principles within the procurement function at DEECA. This role will ensure procurement practices actively empower Aboriginal businesses and communities, aligning with treaty commitments and economic equity in Victoria.

Based at 8 Nicholson Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements. Applications close on the specified date.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of procurement governance, purchasing and contract management processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
End to end sourcing experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal self-determination, including knowledge of the historical and contemporary context of Aboriginal communities in Victoria.
Strong experience in procurement or supplier engagement, with a proven ability to design and implement inclusive procurement strategies.

Responsibilities

Champion and embed Aboriginal self-determination principles within the procurement function.
Support development and implementation of culturally informed procurement strategies.
Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal suppliers and communities.
Influence policy and practice to create sustainable, long-term opportunities for First Peoples through government procurement.
