Job summary

ASC is Australia’s submarine company delivering life extension for the Collins class and supporting nuclear submarine programs. We are seeking an experienced Procurement Lead to shape strategic procurement and supply chain activities across a complex program, leading sourcing, contracting and stakeholder engagement.

You will manage major contracts, drive commercial outcomes, and mentor the procurement team while ensuring governance and regulatory compliance across defence projects.

Qualifications

• Experience leading procurement and supply chain activities for complex programs.
• Proven ability to manage major contracts, negotiations and commercial documentation.
• Strong knowledge of procurement practices, contract management, IP, insurance and warranties.
• Project management skills with multiple workstreams and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned to program requirements.
• Lead sourcing, subcontract management, category management and purchasing activities across the assigned scope.
• Lead complex contract negotiations and prepare supporting approvals and commercial documentation.
• Support the development and implementation of Supply Chain Management Plans, processes and mobilisation deliverables.
• Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners.
• Identify and manage procurement and supply chain risks, ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.
• Provide procurement and supply chain advice to leadership and support reporting.
• Mentor and develop procurement team members to drive performance.

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Lead to shape and deliver strategic procurement and supply chain activities across a complex program of work. You will lead key sourcing and contracting initiatives, manage strategic supplier relationships, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver strong commercial and operational outcome.

About you

• A tertiary qualification in commerce, law, supply chain or a related discipline is desirable not essential
• Strong experience in a relevant supply chain or procurement role, ideally within defence or manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience establishing and managing major project contracts, including commercial negotiations and contract law.
• Strong knowledge of procurement practices, contract management and relevant legal considerations including intellectual property, insurance and warranties.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities to agreed timelines and budgets.
• Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in a complex environment.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role may require an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
