Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths is seeking an experienced Processing Supervisor for the Kalgoorlie Rare Earth Processing Facility (REPF). This safety-driven leader will guide a processing workforce to achieve targets while maintaining high standards and sustainable operations.

The role may be offered on a FIFO arrangement, with initial Monday–Friday orientation followed by an 8/6/7/7 12-hour roster for the crew. A dynamic leadership opportunity awaits.

Qualifications

• Safety leadership is a mandatory requirement.
• Diploma or Degree in processing, chemistry, metallurgy, or related discipline.
• Completion of WHS units of competency to hold a statutory position.
• Schedule 26 WHS Mines Regs statutory supervisor exam achieved.
• Ability to engage maintenance, technical and environment stakeholders.
• Operational processing plant or refinery experience with leading teams.
• Experience in lithium or base metals processing; cracking/leaching desirable.
• Control room, isolation and Permit to Work experience.
• Exposure to heavy mobile machinery and mentoring others.
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
• MS Office proficiency and data-driven mindset.
• WA unencumbered C class license or above.
• Full Australian Working Rights.

Responsibilities

• Appointed Statutory position of Processing Plant Supervisor.
• Day-to-day management of the processing plant with a team of process technicians as direct reports.
• Ensure a safe working environment and plant runs to Lynas standards.
• Identify and implement safety and production improvements.
• Complete investigations into any incidents that occur.
• Ensure operational readiness of the plant from production and operating perspectives.
• Plan, train and diversify skills for your crew.
• Develop, implement and maintain fit-for-purpose SOPs and strategies.
• Take ownership of plant performance and achieve targets.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance management with clear direction.

Job description

Due to the growth of our operation, Lynas Rare Earths has a newly created supervisor opportunity for an experienced Processing Supervisor with relevant processing experience at our new Kalgoorlie Rare Earth Processing Facility (REPF).

The Kalgoorlie REPF is a key strategic platform for critical mineral production, blending pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical process in an Australian first, rare earth mineral processing plant.

The Opportunity:

This is a rare opportunity for a safety driven Processing Supervisor wanting to join us on our journey. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to have major input into leading and motivating their Production workforce to help achieve our production targets in a safe, sustainable and positive way.

This supervisor position may be offered on a FIFO arrangement.

Initially working an altered pattern of Monday to Friday during a brief orientation and familiarisation period, the new team member will then transition to an 8 / 6 / 7 / 7 rotating roster of day and night shift for their allocated crew (12 hour shifts).

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Develop, implement and maintain fit for purpose operating procedures and strategies
• Take ownership of plant performance and achieve targets
• Providing support, guidance, mentoring, performance management and providing clear objectives and direction to your team - strong leadership.

Required skills and experience:

• Unwavering approach to safety leadership
• Formal professional qualification in processing, chemistry, metallurgy, or other relevant discipline, for example, a Diploma or Degree level (mandatory)
• Completion of WHS units of competency to hold a statutory position (mandatory)
• Schedule 26 (of WHS Mines Regs) Statutory Supervisor Exam achievement (mandatory)
• Ability to build relationships with key stake holders, such as maintenance, technical and environment personnel to ensure compliant optimum plant performance
• Experience in an operational processing plant or refinery environment, leading operating teams essential
• Experience in Lithium or base metals processing, cracking and leaching, filter press technology is desirable
• Control room, Isolation, and/or Permit to Work operational experience
• Prior experience with the operation of heavy mobile machinery (forklifts, telehandler, loaders, skid steer, overhead gantry crane) and mentoring others to build confidence in use
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills, agile thinking
• Solid soft skills across the Microsoft Suite
• Minimum WA unencumbered C class drivers’ license or above
• Full Australian Working Rights.
